Technics has unveiled its most advanced turntable system to date, the SL-1200MK7, incorporating cutting-edge technology and drawing from years of research to deliver the pinnacle of professional turntables.
The time-tested direct drive system, characterized by a low-speed motor directly driving the platter, offers exceptional performance, precise rotational accuracy, and formidable motor torque. This setup is not only reliable but also low-maintenance, sparing users the need for frequent part replacements.
For the SL-1200MK7, Technics developed a coreless direct drive motor with a coreless stator, eliminating cogging issues that can lead to rotation irregularities. Optimized rotor magnets enhance efficiency and torque performance to rival the SL-1200MK5, resulting in smooth rotation and impeccable sound reproduction marked by remarkable clarity.
Users now have access to the latest digital motor technology, enabling them to fine-tune torque and brake speed across four distinct settings, empowering them to tailor their SL-1200MK7 to their unique style.
The pitch control function allows precise adjustment of platter rotation speed with ±8% / ±16% adjustments. Digital motor control, alongside positional detection of the slider and rotational motor control, eliminates unnecessary Digital to Analog conversion, enhancing tracking performance and pitch accuracy.
The introduction of the reverse play function opens up new creative avenues for performances. The SL-1200MK7 also supports rotation speeds of 33-1/3 rpm, 45 rpm, and 78 rpm, with a dedicated switch for reverse play, as well as speed and torque/brake speed adjustments.
The SL-1200MK7 features a highly sensitive tonearm with a popular static-balance, universal S-shape design. High-precision bearings grant the tonearm superior initial-motion sensitivity, reducing stylus jumping even during scratching.
A long-life high-intensity LED stylus illuminator, designed for intuitive operation and flush storage, is included.
Gold-plated phono terminals at the rear minimize sound degradation and enhance conductivity. The terminals' design facilitates cable and terminal maintenance.
The unit's cabinet, designed for optimal audio quality, mitigates external vibrations, reducing resonance and distortion. A two-layer construction featuring a die-cast aluminum chassis bonded with ABS mixed fiberglass boosts rigidity and vibration-damping capabilities. An internal insulator with a rubber and spring combination optimizes frequency characteristics, ensuring sound quality and resistance to howling.
